We had such a wonderful stay at Rose Marie Lodge. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how well thought out and accessible the property is. We were able to park our wheelchair accessible vehicle right outside on the block-paved drive, which made it so easy to get my brother into the house using the ramp. The wide doors made moving around in his wheelchair effortless, and the bedrooms were brilliant for us too. With the profiling bed and hoist provided, my brother (who had spinal fusion surgery in February 2024) was completely comfortable – it really met our very specific needs, which gave us peace of mind and allowed us to fully enjoy our stay.
Inside, the open-plan kitchen and living room were perfect for spending time together as a family. We enjoyed sitting down for dinner at the table, then winding down in the evenings in the lounge. The garden was a real bonus too – we even managed to enjoy a game of football, which was great fun.
We took the recommendation to visit Colchester Zoo and had a lovely day out. Some areas were a little hilly for the wheelchair, but overall it was very accessible. The local shops were also easy to get to, so we had everything we needed close by.
The lodge really did cater to all of our needs and more. Honestly, if we could choose any place as a second home, Rose Marie Lodge would be it. None of us wanted to leave, and we’re already looking forward to booking again!

We had a two night stay recently, bringing two children with complex needs. The facilities were fantastic with ceiling hoist, large wet room, shower bed and profiling bed. It meant we could travel much lighter and leave the shower chair at home! The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of places to eat locally. Having a sainsbury's local a few minutes walk away was also handy.
We all had a brilliant time and would definitely stay again.

Third time we had stayed here. We love the area so much. Rose Marie cottage is a wonderful place to stay. The equipment is brilliant and the lay out of the house is very thoughtful. Even the dog makes herself at home.

We had a lovely stay at Rosemarie lodge. It ticks all the boxes for our needs : Ceiling hoist, big bathroom, shower bed , 4 bedrooms and 3 toilet/shower which is ideal for big family or like us who travels with our son’s care team, enclosed garden for our dog, big kitchen , laundry facility and big lounge…
The garden center and cafe just opposite is also a big plus for us , they serve yummy food and very pleasant staff.
Gary is very attentive host and always available to answer any query .
Will definetely book again in the future.

We have just had a lovely weekend at Rosemarie lodge, we arrived late due to traffic but Gary was there to greet us and show us round. The bungalow is lovely and well equipped. Taking my son away with all his medical and physical equipment can be a challenge but thankfully didn't have to bring any bathroom or bed equipment as was already there. Having the hoist that connects from the bedroom to the very spacious bathroom was amazing. My son was able to walk in his walker from the front of the house, in the disability room, through the hallway, all the way around the living room/ kitchen and into the garden with ease which was lovely, he enjoyed exploring as there aren't many places he can do that inside. The area is also lovely and we enjoyed a day at the beach and the next day at the zoo.
Gary was a wonderful host and I'm so grateful that we found such a amazing place to stay as a family.

Just home from a wonderful week long break at Rose Marie lodge, the house has everything you could possibly need and more! It made bringing our wheelchair reliant son away that much easier knowing we didn’t have to cram mobile hoists/shower chair into the van. The decor and facilities were second to none. Would recommend very highly.

We had a wonderful stay at Rose-Marie lodge. The property has been very well adapted for disabled needs and enabled us to holiday together as a family. The property was spacious, clean and well equipped. Gary was very welcoming and had additional disabled equipment if needed. We really enjoyed the outside space and the easy distance to the seaside. I would thoroughly recommend this lodge for a family requiring accessible accommodation.

We spent Christmas here so the whole family could be together. It’s an absolutely lovely place that’s had so much care and thought go into it. It didn’t feel at all like a hollow shell like a lot of holiday rentals do, it was a real home from home experience but with the addition of some fantastic accessibility features.
It’s really spacious, the garden is massive and I’m sure it’s lovely in the summer.
The owners were also lovely, nothing was too much to ask of them and met us at the property to settle us in despite it being Christmas Eve. They even put a Christmas tree up for us before we arrived.
I would definitely recommend this place.

Great big house with big garden. All the rooms were comfortable and welcoming. Everything we wanted was in the house and if it wasn’t the owner did his best to make sure we got it. We stayed in a lot partly because my mum is infirm but also the house is really lovely to be in. Not too far for a trip to the sea also. Supermarket and other shops are a couple of minutes walk. Being here was a chance to really decompress. Thank you Gary and Debbie for creating a really lovely home away from home.

A great stay! It was bright and spacious with all the equipment we needed for our family’s disability needs. Nice big parking space with plenty of room for unloading from a WAV. Great outside patio overlooking garden, plenty of room for wheelchairs. The owner was so nice and very helpful. Plenty of facilities in the area if you want to eat out or get a takeaway! Very short drive to the seafront.

I recently stayed at Rose Marie lodge with my family - my elderly mother with poor mobility, my daughter with ADHD, my son with multiple complex mental and physical needs, and our dog! Gary and his daughter Ami were incredibly helpful in their communication prior to our arrival, as well as making sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Every single one of our needs were catered for at Rose Marie lodge which, considering how vast our needs are, can be a challenge when trying to have a holiday. My son was comfortable and happy during our stay, due to the proper equipment provided, and made my life easier as his carer. For my mother, it was like a home from home, being able to relax in a riser recliner chair and the considerations that have been made for a person with poor mobility. For my daughter, there was plenty of space for her to burn off her energy and stay entertained, as well as having her own space in the upstairs bedroom. And for me, as a person who always has someone to look after, it provided a relaxing space where I could rest a little during my caring roles for mum and son.
We all left feeling refreshed and sad to leave such a lovely and well adapted house. I can wholeheartedly recommend Rose Marie lodge to anyone who would like to get away to the coast for a relaxing time, and the hosts are exceptionally empathetic which is an added bonus.
For rest, relaxation and a coastal retreat with enough amenities close by, this is definitely a 5* place to visit.
